The Royal Holloway Sleep Lab in the Psychology Department at Royal Holloway, University of London is co-directed by Dr Alice Gregory and Dr Jakke Tamminen. Alice investigates the impact of sleep on mental health and cognitive factors associated with sleep difficulties. Jakke carries out research into learning, memory, and the impact memory consolidation during sleep has on these phenomena.
In our research we benefit from a two-bedroom sleep laboratory with full Embla polysomnography equipment for monitoring neural activity during sleep. We also have an olfactometer in place to allow us to investigate external memory reactivation during sleep. The laboratory is located in a quiet corner of the campus, with only the Royal Holloway deer as our neighbours. Further departmental facilities to which we have access include an fMRI lab, and an EEG lab. Please explore our website for more information about the people in the lab, about our research, our publications, and about our research in the media.
