Kirsty Vant on the 7:1 Sleep Rule

Our amazing PhD student, Kirsty Vant, has once again published a lifestyle/wellness article about sleep science, this time, on The Standard. Kirsty talks about the “7:1 sleep rule”, a simple wellness guideline encouraging people to get at least seven hours of sleep each night while keeping their bedtime and wake-up time within the same one-hour window every day, including weekends. SmartSocks®DISCOVERY Pioneers Competition: RHUL Sleep Lab Awarded 2nd Place in the Sleep Category

Beatriz Venâncio, a doctoral student in our lab, took part in the 2026 SmartSocks®DISCOVERY Pioneers competition, an initiative aiming to recognise innovative research ideas using the SmartSocks® wearable sensing platform. Together with Dr Alice M. Gregory and Dr Jakke Tamminen, the team developed a proposal exploring how wearable technology can support sleep research in children and young people with Type 1 Diabetes.
